Although from fact, that Matt Lipsey is Comedy legend director, for me and during the whole production, It was very productive and pleasant collaboration.
Matt chose to do the majority of the SFX in camera with the rest of the required visual effects completed by Gramercy Park Studios. It really pays off on screen with the transition from human to bingo ball (all done in one shot) being a real plate. Just what we did in GPS, shoot pieces of clothing and tree master passes, actor with inflatade vest, clean plate and actor in big bingo ball.
In the first spot “Past Your Bedtime” husband and wife are tucked up in bed but while the husband is gently dreaming of being a space captain (but of course!) his wife is indulging in a very exciting game of Sun Bingo on her laptop. Her expressions are priceless as the tension grows and the clock ticks away… until she peeks through one eye to see that she has won. The excitement of winning is all too much as she explodes into a giant bingo ball while her husband and cat go flying off the bed. As she rolls around her poor husband, rudely pulled from his space captain dreams, has to try and support her giant round mass as it teeters on the bed…she of course is so happy to have won that she’s not the least perturbed about now being a giant red bingo ball.
